Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick, Book Review
For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.
Rating: 5/5
Hey, y'all! I read Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick a very, very long time ago around the time when it first came out in hardcover. Recently, I purchased the paperback version from Barnes & Noble and re-read it quickly. With my memory completely restored and refreshed, I am writing this review. I read Hush, Hush and Crescendo and am going to post the review of Hush, Hush and then of Crescendo. So, let's begin...
I decided to rate Hush, Hush five stars (or five wings, in this case) and absolutely adored this charming and enticing romance about a hard-working studious high school sophomore named Nora Grey. Nora is your typical girl next door and never thought she'd be falling for the bad boy, Patch. Ignoring her peers, mother, and even the school guidance counselor, Nora ignores their warnings to stay away from Patch and becomes increasingly fascinated by him.
As I read Hush, Hush I felt kind of scared at a few select points throughout the novel. Nora is being stalked (no big secret) and I found myself looking over my shoulder and peeling back the blinds to peer out into the night. I'm surprised, because to have such a strong, compelling effect on me, a book has to be pretty darn good. I also felt the heated sizzle between Nora and Patch as their relationship escalated.
The talented debut author, Becca Fitzpatrick, has said in numerous interviews that it took her a total of five long years to write Hush, Hush. After countless rejections and writing seminars, Fitzpatrick's whimsical novel was pulled from the slush pile and published by Simon and Shuster in 2009 in first edition hardcover and just recently released in paperback.
I loved this novel, especially the mythical creatures involved. I love the stories involved with fallen and guardian angels, as well as Nephilim (half-humans, half-angels.) Nora bore a striking resemblence to Bella Swan. Sorry, I don't mean to compare this to Twilight because it is very different and both lovers and haters of Twilight alike will devour this amazing book and the sequel, Crescendo.
I love the cover, especially because I know it's Patch. Swoon! *Wink* *Wink* The cover depicts Patch, a fallen angel, as he falls, making his decent from heaven. Soaring through the twilight sky, Patch is caught in a sharp ray of sunlight beaming through the opening clouds, revelaing his stoic body. Surrounded by a sheer mass of feathers, Patch falls towards earth and permanately leaves his mark on earth and his true love's heart...

Bookshelf Tour
Hey, everybody. Due to numerous requests to do this, I have decided to do my very first bookshelf tour. Yay! The following books are SOME (I've read way too many to list all of them) of the books I've read. They are not in any particular order, just how I decided to list them. Please take your time and look at my collection (well, part of it anyway.) Thank you to all of the new followers and I would like to ask you something in return: Please tell your friends, family, and even your enemies about this blog and tell them to subscribe and please spread the word. Thank you once again and enjoy! If you have any requests (whether you want me to review a book, movie, TV show, showcase my book collection, etc.), just comment on the latest post and I will reply and see what I can do. Also, if you're the author/publisher of a book and you would like for me to review either an ARC copy or the realeased copy, just comment on the latest post.
