Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
Today, I will be reviewing Nightshade, the debut novel by a fantastic author, Andrea Cremer. I rated it 5/5 because of the plot/storyline, character development, and writing style. Although the beginning was semi-slow, somewhere in the middle the plot picked up and I tore through this novel. The ending wasn't my cup of tea, but it was still an excellent novel.
I enjoyed this book because of the strong, hot-tempered heroine named Calla Tor. Calla, being an alpha leader of her shape-shifting wolf pack, is to be married off to the Bane alpha, Renier "Ren." I loved how Calla stood up not just for herself, but for her friends and boyfriend.
My favorite characters were Calla, Shay, Neville, Mason, and Bryn. One thing that I loved about this book was that each character had a distinct personality, whereas in some books the author focuses so much on the main character(s) that the side characters are kind of dull and repetitive.
All in all, this novel was an amazing one and I definitely suggest that you, (yes, YOU!) go out to the bookstore nearest you and buy this book today!
