Carpe Corpus (The Morganville Vampires, #6) by Rachel Caine, Book Review

Rating: 4/5

In the small college town of Morganville, vampires and humans lived in (relative) peace-until all the rules got rewritten when the evil vampire Bishop arrived, looking for the lost book of vampire secrets. He's kept a death grip on the town ever since. Now an underground resistance is brewing, and in order to contain it, Bishop must go to even greater lengths. He vows to obliterate the town and all its inhabitants-the living and the undead. Claire Danvers and her friends are the only ones who stand in his way. But even if they defeat Bishop, will the vampires ever be content to go back to the old rules, after having such a taste of power?

Lord of Misrule, book 5, left us with the up rise of Bishop, evil bad ass vampire. Bishop, a betraying king with no crown, must be brought down and Claire Danvers and her gang of equally outcast friends know that. Shane, Claire's love, have made the ultimate leap of fate and proved their true, undying love for each other. Now, their bond of love stronger than ever, fight through the night and if they can't make it until sunup, then game over....

Over the past six books in the Morganville Vampires Series, the "Scooby Gang":

1) Claire Danvers, Genius/human pawn for the vampires

2) Eve Rosser, Goth/Strong, independent tough girl chick

3) Michael Glass, Human-turned ghost-turned vampire/Aspiring musician

4) Shane Collins, Boyfriend xD

...have all grown and matured. Now, in such a desperate time of need, the gang must come together and, prejudice aside, must take down the vampire government. This book was very fast-paced, but the plot still dragged out. I felt as if books 3-6 followed the same plot line, making almost no development. I feared that this would happen, and wish ALL of the books would be of five-fang quality as Glass Houses was. Don't get me wrong, they're good...just not uber-amazing. Go check them out if you're looking for a really good book series, because it is really good. xD

Up next: If I Stay by Gayle Forman
