Hey, guys! I got the chance to interview Heather M. White (left), author of When Destiny Knocks (right). Make sure to check out the giveaway at the end of this interview, because Heather has kindly donated a digital (PDF, Kindle, Nook, etc.) eBook to two lucky readers!
Heather: First of all Casey - thank you so, so much for having me on your blog today! :) It is such a honor!
Casey’s Crew: Tell me about your book. How did you come up with that (story, angle, idea)?
Heather M. White: I've always loved to write stories. The idea just came to me. I wanted a story where the lead girl is not just a damsel in distress. I like that Karlie is kick butt, and that she can rescue herself... most of the time anyway ;)
Casey’s Crew: How did you get interested in writing this particular genre (historical novels, mysteries, sci-fi, children's books, etc.)?
Heather M. White: I have ALWAYS known that I wanted to write Young Adult books. Considering 95% of the books I read are YA Paranormal Romance, I decided I would stick to what I know and love.
Casey’s Crew: What kind of research did you do for this book?
Heather M. White: I looked up a lot of different myths and folk lore. I've always been interested in paranormal creatures - I combined everything I've heard with my own imagination.
Casey’s Crew: What's a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?
Heather M. White: I do set a daily goal. I try to get a minimum of 5k words a day. I try to get more than that most days. I do my best writing from about 6pm to midnight, sometimes later. But I write ALL the time.
Casey’s Crew: What is the hardest part of writing for you?
Heather M. White: Hmm... Well I'm really ADHD. Sometimes I find it hard to sit still. Also, there is this condition called writers butt. It's real, lol :-P.
Casey’s Crew: What’s the best thing about being an author?
Heather M. White: Honestly - seeing my finished project. Beings a writer takes a LOT of HARD work. Writing, editing, book cover design, more editing... Oh, and did I mention editing??? Also, I like going to work in my pajamas! (Yes, I'm wearing pajamas right now!)
Casey’s Crew: What are you working on now?
Heather M. White: I am working on book 2 in my Destiny Saga, as well as a new series. My Fairytale Life, the first in my Vampire Hunter Series, will be releasing in February. Also, I plan to have book 2 in the Destiny Saga out by the end of March.
Casey’s Crew: What advice would you give aspiring writers?
Heather M. White: Just write... EVERYDAY, even if you don't feel like it. It's totally worth it in the end. Never give up. Also, read a LOT. Be creative! It's your book, your world. Have fun.
Casey’s Crew: Do you have any favorite authors or favorite books?
Heather M. White: I have a LOT of favorites. I love the Significance Series by Shelly Crane, The Fallen Star Series by Jessica Sorencen and My Blood Approves Series by Amanda Hocking. Those are my current favorites.
Casey’s Crew: What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview? How would you answer that question?
Heather M. White: If you weren't a writer what would you want to be? Easy - a ROCKSTAR. I play guitar, bass and drums. I sing. I've been playing for over 10 years now, I've wrote over 200+ songs, and I LOVE MUSIC.
Casey’s Crew: If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?
Heather M. White: The title would be: Don't Do What I Did... LOL, seriously, I have done a lot of stupid things in my life... It's all apart of growing up, I guess.
*Flash Questions*:
Casey’s Crew: If you could trade places with a person for a single day, who would it be and why?
Heather M. White: I'm going to go with Lady Gaga, because I have ALWAYS wanted to be a rockstar... As long as she was performing that day. What a rush! :)
Casey’s Crew: What was the last movie you saw?
Heather M. White: From Prada to Nada - on Netflix, Breaking Dawn - in theater.
Casey’s Crew: What is your biggest TV addiction?
Heather M. White: VAMPIRE DIARIES (I'm obsessed). And True Blood.
Casey’s Crew: Guilty pleasure?
Heather M. White: I am addicted to caffeine. Dr. Pepper, Red Bull, NOS, Coffee, Mtn. Dew, Coke... EVERYTHING lol.
Casey’s Crew: Fruits or veggies?
Heather M. White: FRUITS! :) I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE (almost) every fruit!
Casey’s Crew: Favorite childhood toy?
Heather M. White: Barbies. I loved to play with Barbies as a kid.
Casey’s Crew: What did you have for breakfast this morning?
Heather M. White: A turkey sandwich........ I'm in the middle of writing right now, so I don't really have time to "cook" lol.

Thank you for taking the time to answer these interview questions for me!
Here is the synopsis and a sneak peek at When Destiny Knocks by Heather M. White:
16 year old Karlie has had a pretty normal life... But when her Mom dies she is force to move over 1,000 miles away to live with her Dad. That's when things start getting weird. She can't explain the earthquakes that nobody else feels, or why she no longer sleeps. But most of all she doesn't know why she trusts Shane so much, even though his Dad wants her dead. Suddenly, Karlie's normal life is turned upside down and she enters a world she never dreamed could really exist.
“Don’t worry. You are completely safe with me.” Shane put his arm around me and pulled me out to the dance floor. With Shane I lose myself. I forget that he’s half-demon. I forget that I’m the chosen one. I forget the world where vampires, werewolves and demons exist. I forget his Dad wants me dead. It’s just me and him – and for that moment I feel special. I feel normal.I could feel my heart race as Shane dips his head down to mine. When his lips touch mine I feel like my heart is going to explode. In that moment I almost let myself dream of a future with him. Before I get to deep in my thoughts a terrible feeling comes over me. I pulled back from Shane’s embrace to see his Dad standing beside us.“Hello Karlie,” his voice was full of hate as he said my name.I grabbed Shane’s hand and did the only thing I knew to do… I ran.
